Our everyday commitment to the environment

Our commitment to meeting production needs while preserving natural resources is what drives our decisions. We implement a circular approach in production processes to help face climate change.

The way we manage the energy used in our production processes and the consequent carbon dioxide emissions are among the so-called ‘material’ environmental issues, on which we need to act with greater commitment.

Our business also has an impact on the waste production, especially during the processing and packaging of products, and on the raw materials we use.

We are committed to developing products that respect natural resources. This is why we carefully select raw materials and packaging that is as recycled and recyclable as possible.

Through our efforts, we give a tangible contribution to the following SDGs

CLIMATE CHANGE

Anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions-generated by human activity-are the main cause of global warming, an aspect of climate change that is completely anomalous to Earth's natural climate cycles.

Our results:

The energy we use in our production processes is certified as 100 % renewable (100% Green Energy certification): this has enabled us to cut produced emissions by 81%;

82% of our suppliers are based in Italy: we thus protect the quality of Made in Italy and minimise the transport of raw materials and supplies

Our goals:

Gradual replacement of the company car fleet with hybrid cars;

Installation of electric charging stations to encourage the use of electric and hybrid vehicles among our employees;

installation of a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 300kWp to cover about 40% of our energy needs;

we decided to formalise our commitment with an analysis of our emissions as part of the Organisational carbon footprint, which aims at quantifying and reporting greenhouse gas emissions related to the Organization, in compliance with the UNI EN ISO 14064-1: 2019 standard.

ENERGY CONSUMPTION MONITORING

Reducing consumption and improving energy efficiency are goals we set and focus on daily, knowing how important they are, both at environmental and economical level.

Our results:

87% of waste produced in 2022 was sent for recovery;

We monitor the use of materials in the production process annually through the Autodichiarazione Unica Ambientale (AUA) (Single Environmental Self-Declaration);

To help reduce waste, we have established an internal policy that bans plastic bottles, cups, and spoons. In this way we saved 180 kg of virgin plastic;

The entire process of order collection and fulfillment is computerised, as to avoid using and wasting paper;

We discontinued the use of plastic packaging in shipping cartons, replacing it with paper. We discontinued the use of plastic tape, replacing it with recycled paper tape;

We use FSC-certified paper and cardboard for product cases;

Since 2022, we have been using bottles with 50% recycled plastic for the Marseille Soap line, saving 1,640Kg of virgin plastic;

We discontinued cellophane from the cases that required it and replaced plastic thermoforming with pure cellulose pulp thermoforming.

Our goals:

Heat recovery pump system for air conditioning by means of a high efficiency air handling unit (AHU), which allows energy recycling for production process heating;

Replacing lamps with LED technology;

Adding new machinery that uses Inverter technology.

Rainwater harvesting for irrigation or non-HACCP washing. We are conducting a study to create a system that can extract groundwater from beneath our plant.
