Milk Thistle

Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum) is a biennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Asteraceae family, commonly found in the Mediterranean region. The name 'marianum' (from 'Mary') probably comes from a legend: the white spots on the leaves would be drops of milk that fell from the Virgin Mary's breast while she was nursing the baby Jesus.

It has been documented in herbaria since the Middle Ages due to its medicinal properties.

One of its key components, silymarin, aids in the treatment of liver disorders by promoting liver tissue regeneration.

Additionally, it supports digestive and liver functions and detoxifies the body. It has antioxidant properties and helps regulate carbohydrate metabolism.
