Milk Thistle
Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum) is a biennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Asteraceae family, commonly found in the Mediterranean region. The name marianum (from Mary) probably comes from a legend: the white spots on its leaves are said to be drops of milk that fell from the Virgin Mary's breast while she was nursing the baby Jesus.
Its medicinal properties have been documented in herbaria since the Middle Ages.
One of its key components, silymarin, aids in the treatment of liver disorders by promoting liver tissue regeneration.
Additionally, it supports digestive and liver functions while helping to detoxify the body. It also has antioxidant properties and helps regulate carbohydrate metabolism.
