Mugo Pine

Mugo Pine (Pinus mugo) is an evergreen needle-shaped bush. It has a prostate and twisted posture, and belongs to the Pinaceae family. It grows in Italy in the Alps between 1500 and 2700 meters above sea level and in the ligurian Apennines, the tuscan-emilian Apennines, Abruzzo and Campania. It prefers calcareous soils. A very special oil, that is well known in herbal medicine, is extracted from its branches. Mugo pine essence has a balsamic effect that is helpful for the wellbeing of the nose and throat.
