Momordica

Momordica (Momordica charantia) is a tropical and a subtropical climbing plant belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family, widely cultivated in Asia and Africa for its edible fruits and leaves. It is an annual herbaceous plant with a trunk that can reach up to 5 meters in height. It is also commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine. This plant is known by many different names, among which bitter gourd because its fully ripe fruit is very bitter. In order to avoid this problem, it is usually gathered before it is fully mature. The main quality of Momordica is related to carbohydrate metabolism. It also supports the functionality of the upper respiratory tract, helps maintain normal blood pressure, it aids digestive function, and promotes regular bowel movements.
