Gamma-oryzanol
Gamma-oryzanol is a mixture of ferulic acid esters and triterpene alcohols. It was found in rice bran oil in 1950 and used in various studies from the 1950s to the 1960s in Japan, initially as an antioxidant and to treat anxiety. Its name comes from the scientific identification of the rice plant, the Oryza sativa, from which Gamma-oryzanol is extracted.
However, this mixture is also found in barley, fruits, whole grains, olives, berries, some herbs and tomatoes.
